fuel gauge broken???... help

Post by ovendenk »

i've got a 93 mx3 v6 and my fuel tank has a leak. i'm gonna replace it but i don't know if i have to replace the fuel level sensor (or whatever it's called) as well.
whenever i go up a hill that curves right, my gauge says i've got no gas. it eventually returns to normal, but what the hell? it also take a REALLY long time for my gauge to settle after putting gas into the car.
is this a common prob or do i have to replace something else as well as the tank????

thanks,

My gauge also takes a long time to settle after refuelling. It is probably a "hot-wire" type, designed to react to longer term changes only, so that it doesn't wave around much as the car turns & dips. But it will react to a prolonged period away from the straight and level, provided the ignition is on. My guess is your gauge is working normally.

Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)
