hey my friend just did this "torque strap" dealy on his ford taurus, and i was wondering if there was a way to do it on an mx-3

do you mean a torque damper???

yes, essentially the same thing, but instead of the fancy damper, he just used a chain to stop the engine from moving around so much

these guys make torque dampers.....they have universal ones that could no doubt be made to fit.

i dont see why you dont just fill them. you can fill 11 sets of mounts for that much

A damper will reduce the velocity of the motion, whilst not preventing it, so the cushioning of the shock to the suspended component (in this case the engine and transmission) is still available. Filling the mounts results in reducing the cushioning - so your transmission components will feel the shock more.

But it's your transmission, and your choice.

i chose to fill three of them with 3m urethane window weld. it holds the engine in place so well between shifts and under acceleration so well that my shifter does not have the dancing problem anymore on bumpy freeways. it does move a tiny bit just not jumpy. the good thing is that the window weld is not overly stiff. in fact its soft enough that when dry its almost as soft as when its almost dry and beginning to hold shape. i feel no more vibration that when i did not feel them. vibration will only be felt if you use a very stuff filling compound.

I'd buy a couple dampers....for the simple fact that they are easy to add/remove and look good too
