kl07 ecu on a 1.8

i just got a klo7 ecu (kl03 motor) for free, so i thought i might try it out on my 1.8. I did a search on this before testing it but i didnt really find out anything, except for it changes the vris points. What i was thinking, and its just an idea, is that the kl07 ecu would make the 1.8 run rich, and i've heard that 14:1 a/f ratio is the fuel effiecent ratio, and is what all stock cars run ( some new fuel efficent engines are now testing 30-60:1 in europe) and 12:1 a/f is for the most power. So the klo7 would make it run richer, maybe lowering to the 12:1 ratio.

When trying it, the check engine light comes on (probably cus the 1.8 vaf), and the vris where different, the 4g kick now comes on at 5g's, my thoughts just by driving... felt like normal, or a little less till 5g's, then it pulled alot harder. it might be because the ecu goes onto a set fuel map and stops trying to lean out, going down to 12:1 at this point. also it sounds different, more aggresive if thats anyway to explain it. Any dyno graphs, opions or thoughts on this...

thats different. you should test it at the track if it ever stops raining. the motor seems to love tons of fuel on the top end. I don't know why yet

you loose power and response when they run rich the k engine make more power and run beter towards the lean side of things. Trust me they hate to much fuel.

Well considering the k8 ecu runs the KL engine better than the KL ecu does, I can't really see how the KL ecu would run the K8 better. Test it on the track....

i tried driving around with a KL55 ecu on my K8 before. Idle was awsome and smooth, startup was instant.....purred like a kitten. Driving was boring....gutless. Had to floor it to get any power. Impressions.....K8 ECU with K8 engine.
[ July 12, 2003: Message edited by: Darren Hyderman ]

my car would run faster with 50psi fuel opposed to 40psi at wot?
so what does that mean? it's against every thing else i have learned
maybe it because of preesure loss because of the pump capacity?

40 to 50 psi is not alot more fuel when its WOT but if you put more fuel all the time well the car hates it. And im just going to take a guess but I think the kl03 on a k8 will make it run leaner.

Take the car to the track + test it
