What's up? Nice to hear about another mx-3 in Connecticut. You ever come to the Berlin Turnpike at all?
Anyways, drop me an e-mail and I can give you some step-by-step directions on how to do it.

Lift the car 15" at least, drop the tansverse member, and keep the left engine mount only. This way, the tranny will be pointing down by right side and you'll pull it out easy without grinding the tranny's casing.
This is how I did and Mazda does....
Good luck
