overflow shoots like a water cannon

when i hit the gas hard my over flow will shot a stream abot 7-10 feet long had to plug it so it don't over heat any idea wut could be wrong ?

Just an idea, but you may have a cylinder head gasket leak which allows the cylinder to pressurise the cooling system. But I don't know whether its possible to tell which it is - may have to change both
