I do not have an A/C in my GS and i live in arizona so im going to die in the summer. I am working on a deal with this one guy to buy his A/C he took off of his car but im wondering if i will be able to put it on my car. All of the wiring is there but i looked at the engine bay and dang there isnt much room in there! Maybe someone can post pics of one with A/C and without?? Thanks..

It is a pain in the *** to get out I imagine it would be even harder to get it in. You could do it though just have a shop manual handy. Check your pms by the way

OMG I couldnt even begin to tell you how hard it would be... First of all I took mine out due to weight reasons.. And it was semi-hard to get out.. I had to cut all the lines and stuff to get them out. To put them in one piece with all the compressor pieces and EVERYTHING omg, dont even bother Im serious its probably harder than an engine swap if you consider that hard. Plus you have to put lines behind your dash inside and all. Im getting a headache just thinking about it<p>
O sorry... didnt want to be negative lol

The fact is, if you pay a shop to install AC on a GS, you will end up paying more than the car is worth. The full parts list alone will set you back $3500 new (probably $2200 used), unless you find some aftermarket hotrod set up that will be ugly and ineffective.
Your best bet is to find another GS that has AC already. They can be had for less than $4000 these days.

Our mazda's were designed to acomodate AC at any given time. It can be installed anytime you want. You can take it to the dealer and have them install it for about $2200.00

The AC lines go into the front dash of your car... Thats how it gets to the vents. If you look on any car with AC you'll see lines or rather plumbing going through the firewall.

Talking to my uncle the other day, he was a mazda saleperson at a dealership. He told me that ac was a dealer installed option, not from the factory. So he told me as i was asking him questions about the car.
