Compression

Hello all, am getting ready to buy a used engine with 121k for $480 with 2yr warranty or $400 no warranty.<p>The shop said the compression test read 200 x 6 is this normal or should say ok for a car with 121k.<p>they have other engines including mx6 626 and probe v6 2.5l but i can't afford it right now.<p>thanks for the imputs<p> :eek:

if they're saying 200 is the reading in all 6 cylinders they're either lying or that engine has abnormally high compression. ~170 is what i thought was normal

Thanks, they also have one with 165lb of compression for $350, i will probable just wait till i can afford a swap. thanks

where are you getting these engines for so cheap? For 350 id drive down and pick one up myself.

my k8 w/ 70k miles and high milage oil had a 194 average.

a word of advice, get the warranty!! for 80 bucks, you cant go wrong for 2 years of free engine work if anything goes wrong.

Thanks fellows, i would never get one of these without the warranty, i think i will just replace it with another 1.8l as i can't buy any additional warrany on the other ones.<p> :D
