Sunroof Ques.

Post by JJ »

Does anyone kno if the sunroof rubber seal is supposed to have a small square cut on it? Its like on the top center of the rubber seal. Is this some type of drainage for when it rains.
Just wondering incase i have to get a new seal.
thanx

I'd like to say no. Only reason is that if you are talking about what I think your talking about, doensn't it drip water on you when you have the sunroof full open after it rained. The water kinda flows out of the holes in the rubber strip and on to my shoulder, sometimes its really hot from the sun and feels really gross...
I was just about to go to wrecking yards looking for a new strip....but if they are all like that...

the seal has an absorbant material that dies over time. You can replace the seal for $60 us from mazda.

oh no it will.. it just wont allow the water to seep thru the absorbent material. At least for the first few years.

inside the rubber is a water absorbing material that sucks up all the water that would leak down. Eventually (shortly) it would just be a prob again

Sorry to bring up this ANCIENT topic, but I am now having this exact problem.
Is there any new solution to the water leaking out of that 1inch gap after it rains? Should it not drain somewhere other than down my back?
