ME -"I don't NEED a luxury car..."
MY Father-"Yes you do... your going to college you'll need a nnice car to meet girls...And it's not a luxury it's used.... if it goes over US$1000 we won't bid on it"
I'm grateful my father talked me into bidding for the little black car in the Marshall's auction lot.
First off, My name is Luis, I'm 20 (21 on April fools day -regular priced BEER! yay) I live in Brooklyn, New York, one of the most expensive states when it comes to insurance for inexperience drivers like myself (we're talkin' $4000)which is why I was resilient to buy a car.
Here in New York, if you have two unpaid tickets, the city Marshall can just tow your car until your pay your dues... and the late fee... and the tow truck to get your car out the lot. Sometimes costing up to $600 (I know, it's nasty but :D
I'm glad my father talked me into getting this car even though half my paycheck goes towards the insurance... ahh who cares ZOOM..ZOOM,ZOOM
Now to customize it. I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING FOR THIS CAR IN THE STATES. I forgot to mention my car is Canadian "Precidia" is what is says in the back. Some dude must've come to visit a realtive and forgot to put a quarterin the parking meter one too many times.
I tried Corksport but they want $600 for a MAZDASPEED Super style rear wing ... MY CAR COSTED $650!!! nonsense ... and second hand parts for this car are damn near impossible to find in NY. I've only seen 13 MX-3s on the road.... can some help me find cheaper alternatives .... thank you

I checked the links ... very helpful thank you very much.... I was wondering tho ... is there some sort of dye that I could use for the fabric on the side panels. I want to dye it grey to match the roof. Also, what IS that ticking sound on my engine..?
[ March 27, 2003: Message edited by: Darth_Luis ]

hey bro, interesting story to say the least lol
there a re few different type of fabric sprays you can use, but they tend to fade away after a while, especially if youre in contact with it (ie leg rubbing up against the door panel) there are dyes to, im not sure where to look really tho lol. the ticking sound is a pretty normal sound on mx3s, its nothing to worry about really. i find that if i keep my oil topped off it goes away  anyway congrats bro, lates

I just noticed that my story may lead some ppl to believe that the MX-3 is a Cheap car... I know that a 1994 MX-3 can retail for at least US$5000.
What I meant to portray in my story is that I believe I was meant to have this car... I paid almost nothing for it (the double muffler on it is about $600)
and to make it official "THE MX-3 IS NOT A CHEAP CAR!!!!!!!"

that ticking noise you got in the engine is a common thing from what I've heard I live in England and have a ticking noise.
If you search past threads many thjiungs have been made possibilities. From loose tappets to cam followers. A good oil change makes it go away for a short time. But if your not good at engine DIY you may want to get a pro mechanic to sort it... They'll be able to sort it for you but it canbe expensive
