When i first bought my '92 mx-3 GS 6 months ago, i noticed this whistling comming from the exhaust(or so it sounds like). Anyone face this problem? it must be the exhaust because it only whistles when i accelerate.....of course when i ask for my dad's second opinion he hears nothing...thats the thing..i dont think my dad hears anything period.
However! to solution to this problem would be what...replacing the exhaust?
This is my first car i apologize for the amature questions but- how much approx. does it cost for a decent exhaust system? for our cars?

it is probably your radio that is making the noise u can tell this if it is really high piched. as for exahust do u own custom one. cost me 250 with muffaler pace setter makkes one but it sucks mx-3 chick has one and it rusting out and is one year old. it is very easy to do it your self. just dont cut the y pipe it 500-600 usd for a new one. take the old exhaust off and work from the front to the back. i used 2.5 inch pipe and a fast cat. flex pipe is also a very good tool to use.

ahh the good old pacesetter debate :)
I have pacesetter installed and have had it for 3 years now. Still have the powdercoat and absolutely no rust. I guess it just depends on your climate or something.

Check your exhaust out, look for black streaks/deposits instead of red rust.
I vote for Pacesetter, a good deal for the price but I'm a cheap bastard! See V6 FAQ for more discussion on this.

i have a sweet streo and i still get the sound untill i bought the filter from jegs it is not the streo or it quality it is your internal electics in your car like ingnition and so on and if you changed you head that is even more reason to think that is the case to rule out this peoblum you must diconecct the power to the stero. as for the pace setter i live in ohio we have lots of salty winter roads. my custom pipes rust to so there is not much to do except ceramic or stainless.

it maybe a tiny crack in your exaust manfold. If it is a crack itll sound like a turbo spooling up etc. take the manfold out and have a real close look at it.
steve
