1992 mx 3 engine sound

Hi all,
My daughter has a 92 mx3 and we hear a knocking coming from what sounds like the bottom of the engine. Is this fatal? We dont have the money for a big repair. If this cost alot we would like to sell the car for parts to anyone here that can use the whole car. We just put new brakes,altenator.If interaeted please email me

When does the knocking occur? When you turn, accelerate, hit a bump?

when the engine is running, if you run it faster it knocks faster.

sorry to break it to you if it just knocks when the engine runs it sounds like an engine problem<p>maybe pistons or rods.

what do you mean from the bottom of the engine? Is it loud? Could be just HLA noise which is commonplace on the V6 motor, not sure about the 4 cylinder. Maybe the CV joints?

i am going to take it to the shop and see what they think. This sound was not here before so think it is something bad. Will let you know,thanks again.

If it's a deep sounding knock, sounds like a bearing. If it is, don't run it, you could throw a rod thru the block, definately fatal.
