here is the problem:
during the engine swap all the freon was let out... now it's like 90 degrees here and I need the A/C back. It turns out that my car 92 mx3 has 12 freon, which is very expensive.
is it possible to fill it up with 134?
if not, is it possible to fill up the a/c system yourself?
thanks

You can use 134a as long as the system has been completely evaced.

The two refrigerents (actually i believe it is the oils) don't mix. If you mix the two together then you risk freezing the compressor. A mechanic is going to tell you whatever makes him the most money. You only need the high and low adaptors. Do not overfill the system. I believe the ratio is 80% 134a to R12.

I bought a kit from WallyWorld and did it myself, it's pretty easy. Rent a vacuum pump and the gauges or do like I did, borrow them from a friend. :D
