I notice that it's hard to shift into the second gear for the first 2 or 3 min of driving.
HOWEVER, this only happens when it's been a cold night. After the engine has warmed up...it's PERFECTLY smooth

What kind of tranny oil are you using? I do use SAE 75/90 all season.

Same thing here. I never had the full potential of my car becaue of my stupid tranny...i couldn't race cuz it gets stuck before it goes into 2nd gear..then when it goes in. It grinds. You can try changing to a better oil for your tranny..And depending on how old your car is and how bad the tranny is... it may be better to not even change the oil at all...its use to that gunk you have now in there..when you put in new oil..then thinks start breaking. Believe me it happens. But if your car is fairly new and in good condition replace the oil.

theres a bar that connects the tranny to the shifter. its right next to the linkage but is bolted to the frame where the linkage comes out the bottom of the car, and the tranny itself. get under the car and make sure both bolts are tight. the bolt on the tranny comes loose sometime if i've been drivin her hard and then the shifting gets muddy.

how hard getting in and out of gear are we talking fuzzy? are you saying you actually have to REALLY force the stick in and out or is it just a little hesitation? heres why... lately ive been noticing a tiny bit of hesitation between some of the gears, but i figure that it is nothing really to worry about. by the way does anyone ever have a real problem getting it into reverse? just wondering.

PROBLEM?
I'M SUPPOSING THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT REVERSE IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I DON'T HAVE ANY REAL TROUBLE,BUT IF YOU SLOWLY LET THE CLUTCH OUT WHILE PUTTING A LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE SHIFTER IT SHOULD SLIDE RIGHT IN AS YOU LET THE CLUTCH OUT. CAREFULLY DONE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. ABOUT THE FIRST TO SECOND GEAR THING I'VE FOUND THAT MY CAR WILL NOT GO TO SECOND IF WHILE RACING I TRY TO SHIFT AROUND THE REDLINE. IF SO IT COULD EASILY BE THE THROWOUT BEARING HAVING TROUBLE CATCHING UP TO THE TRANNY SPEED. ARE YOUR PROBLEMS WHEN RACING OR ALL THE TIME?

standard trans,no racing here,i just want to
be able to shift gears smoothly-not feeling
the gears as you shift.
