I don't know if its just my car or what... but it seems when I am accelerating fast, once it gets to 4000 rpm, all of a sudden the acceleration becomes way faster. Is there an explanation for this, or is it all just in my head?? [img]shrug.gif"%20border="0[/img]

that's the way the engine is supposed to work. i'm sure someone more knowledgable and more awake can tell you why.

Thats just where the torque curve's slope gets pretty positive, meaning you feel a surge of power.

Short stroke engines tend to do that, they can rev and provide lots of top end power but you don't get so much down low. The way the vris flaps work, you actualy get worse torque at 3700 than at 3400 which tends to exagerate this.

TBill has it, plus the lack of cubic inches and it being divided amongst 6 cylinders means the 1.8L V-6 just isn't going to make any power down low. <BR>As a comparison, I once owned a '91 Suzuki Bandit motorcycle with 399cc in 4 cylinders and 16 valves. This bike wouldn't do much until you hit about 8 grand! Yep, 5K and you were luggin' it!

Thanks for all the replies guys... I sorta get it now. All I know is that once you pass that 4000 rpm in a race it feels awesome.
