Mileage question?

Post by Rob Stone »

Whats the most miles that some of you have seen
on the mx-3 without any major repairs? Im asking
because I have a 93' 4-Cyl with 185k and have recently wrecked it (hood,radiator,A/C condensor).
The motor still runs strong and does not smoke.
Just wandering if it would be a good idea to spend
time and money fixing with this mileage?
Still has original clutch -believe it or not

ive gotten up to around 250ish with the empty tank light going on and off *my fuel gauge is broken*... it felt it could've gone a bit more than that. this was on a full tank also.

maybe look into doing an engine swap? might be cheaper. i was reading an mx-3 mileage post a while ago and someone had said that automatic transmissions have a habit of pooping out at 130k. (which sucks for me, i hope it's not true)
then again, some people have great luck, like the guy above me said. i think it goes on a case to case basis.

LOL, he meant miles put on the car not gas mileage, but that is what I thought when I first read it too. To answer both questions, I have 125K (miles) on mine, and I haven't done jack to it except replace a few little things. All major systems are original and still working (knock on wood). As for the gas mileage, I can get about 300 miles before it says that it's empty. But my tank seems to have about 3 gallons left when the gauge says empty. I get around 28-30 city and 35 highway on my 4 cyl.

Ive got 193,000km on mine and it still works great. Could also be because the dealer i bought it from fixed it up cause it didn't pass emissions, heh! Anyhoo I filled my tank today cost me 28 dollars cdn (almost from empty) Im down to a little under half and ive got around 250km to that. So Im getting good mileage I think.
Sh!t now that I think about it I drove enough today to goto toronto and back and I live in Niagara Falls? Gotta cut down on my driving! But then again this was my first full day with her!!! HER = 93' MX-3 1.6l 4cyl. Got her up to 168 and she didn't wanna go anymore :( ah well not like im gonna always be doing that! Right?

Damn Justin you're mad amped. Have a good time with your new whip, but you should upgrade to the V6. I started with the 4 cylinder too and the V6 is so much better.
