Hood Question

How important is the heat shield (the composite paper thing between the hood and the engine)? If it is removed with the paint on the inside of the hood get damaged? Has anyone done this and did it do anything to the hood?

Maybe I am wrong, thats what I was told it was, anyone know?

It's for protecting your hood from getting all discolored from heating and cooling the paint. Keep it if you like having a uniformly colored hood.

that piece is supposed to smother an engine fire if u were to have one. u really dont need it. i took mine off when i put in my glow windshield squirters.<P>Dan
