Also, if I do a K8 for a KLZE, will I need a different tranny and ECU?

sence when did you need a different tranny? It should bolt up to the one you have now.... unless its a 4clyinder.
Re: Just got quoted $1,100 for a KLZE engine from Nippon-mot
Well, I'm keep hearing conflicting answers from different people. Some say that I might need a different tranny, some say that I definately will need one. Others say that I won't need a different tranny and ECU.
Is there anyone out there that can give me a definate answer? I've checked the engine swap sites, but none of them say anything about a tranny or ECU. Please HELP.
Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean you have a Manual transmission.
In that case, you can run all stock sensors, motormounts, wiring harnesses, tranny, and ecu with a KLZE swap.

Yep, sorry, Manual tranny.......you assumed correctly.
I just got off the phone with Derrick from "Corksport" and he said the same thing as you just did. Now it's a matter of getting a good price on the KLZE engine.......any more help......LOL! Thanks for all the help!!!

Use your Tranny
You can use your VAF and ECU but it will run "better" with the ZE VAF and ECU

How about if you have an ATX? Then what about the tranny?

Reason I can't pass is because I'm burning too much oil and my exhaust is on its way out as well. But, I'm hoping that a "new" engine will pass...once I get an exhaust too.

That brings up a few more questions:
1. Since the 2.5L KL-ZE is only to be found in J-spec cars with right hand drive, will that be a problem?
2. Does it matter whether or not the engine was previously used with an automatic tranny. In other words, is an engine only compatible with either an auto or manual tranny?
I'm dropping in the KL-ZE into my 93' GS 5-speed.
