Has anyone ever tried replacing there timing belt by themselves. If so how easy was it? If it is not possible to do by yourself how much does a cost to have a real mechanic do it?
matt
Red '92 MX-3 GS

Yea, i've done it myself...not too much fun. Its gonna be expensive to have a mechanic do it, but it's probably well worth the aggrevation

I did it myself, just give yourself plenty of time, and it helps if you've got a friend to help you. I think it's worth it to try on your own as long as you kind of know what you're doing....

i did it myself. give urself the whole weekend n take ur time. its a pain but well worth the price of $40 compared to at least $500 for a shop. while u do the belt it would be a good idea to do the water pump because its right there. that like $30 at NAPA auto. good luck
Dan
