No Power, Alternator

Hi folks,<P>I'm running a 1994 V6 with air conditioning.<P> For about 1 week or so I detected a humming/whining noise that seemed to come from the area around the alternator and drive belt, well the car was completely dead today, I got a jump but it wouldn't hold the charge for more than 10 minutes.<P>Is it the alternator for sure? Or is it possibly the belt only?(praying).<P>If it is the alternator, how difficult is it to replace myself.
