What Octane level U guys use

What's up guys... Just a question as to what level of Octane you all use. I use a higher one which is usually only 91-4 , so what do you all use. Any added fluids, octane boost, Nitros boost(I would never) .
Image later...

I use 89 octane and I have a GS.I won't start using 92 until I get my engine swap.
[This message has been edited by DiGiTaL (edited August 28, 2001).]

87 octane.
For the track I use 89 and reset my computer though.
------------------
David Coleman- Moderator
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
V6 engine info | KL FAQ | ECU reprogramming | K series Image cache | Probetalk Archive Search

I used to run my car on 89, but since i started using 93, it runs a lot better, and the gas seems to last a little longer.
------------------
~'94 GS (Creek Blue Mica)

I try to use 91 if I can find it but usually only find 89. I use Quick trip gas only. I dont know where else they are located but they are on everywhere here. With 87 I here pings and when you try to accellerate I really here the pings and less power.

You are to use the octane that reflects your compression ratio for example a engine with 9.1:1 needs 91 octane
------------------
Clear White 2.5L GSR

117% lol
I tried to under stand it but could you explian what they mean in 7.1 on the page you gave?
ps. did you test your 2inch intake vs your 3inch for incresed air speed how did it work out??
------------------
Clear White 2.5L GSR

7.1 is a list of recommended octane levels for carburated engines with no engine management systems. Also, its likely assuming 2 valve cast iron heads, which arent the best design for high compression on pump gas...
Vaughn dyno'd [Vericom 2000] the best results from 89 octane on his 9.6:1 compression KLD with KL IHI heads. I've gotten my best ET's with 89 octane. If you use too high of an octane, it will be harder to burn, make less power, and make your car slower.
------------------
David Coleman- Moderator
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
V6 engine info | KL FAQ | ECU reprogramming | K series Image cache | Probetalk Archive Search

I've actually tried using Chevron's gas with "techron" and it actually runs better..try it for a few tanks and see if that helps, regardless of octane.

Hey dude! What manufacturer DID design their engines to "run" with Techron? This is a rhetorical question of course, since none did...unless you have some inside info that you'd like to share with us about the evils of Techron and engine design.

I normally use 98 octane, sometimes 99+ from the Shell gas station, and very rarely 95 (thats the worst u can get here :-))
cya
shawn
yet without mx-3 1.8 v6
but u could see the last pics on : http://tuning.hoga.pl
