Turbo pistons

In the process of turbo charging my car I came across a set of turbo pistons, they are new in the box with a set of rings, they are designed for a turbo sr22 (toyota), I know some boring would have to be done but how much, as they were designed for an I4, I can possibly get two more, but will they just be to large for my V6, I would assume they are, but I thought I should check before they go to Ebay. another question is could one of the I4 MX-3 guys use them???

A toyota sr22 is a 2.2L 4-cylinder engine, meaning .55 for each piston. Your Mx-3 is a 1.8 v6, meaning .3 for each piston...you'd have to bore it out enough to increase the displacement to a 3.3L v6, which i assume is impossible because people woudln't swap the 2.5L in if it was. THat's a LOT of boring to do....good luck.....my freind is selling his turbo pistons out of his 2.0L Eclipse GSX, those still probably wont fit, but they'd be a little smaller than the 2.2L pistons
------------------
~'94 GS
[This message has been edited by Bri94GS (edited August 19, 2001).]

Not a good idea.
Turbo pistons are low compression, which will hurt performance unless you're turbo'ed anc can run more boost.
------------------
David Coleman- Moderator
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
V6 engine info | KL FAQ | ECU reprogramming | K series Image cache | Probetalk Archive Search

Dave- Read my post again, I am in the process of turbo Charging my car. Matter of fact you are the one who sent me to Turbo Tech to get help. Anyway, I've decited not to use the pistons, getting the other two is to dificult, even if they would have worked
JG

You don't need turbo pistons anyway unless you are going to run really high boost levels with pump gas.

Glad to hear the turbo plans. I'd talk to turbo tech first about changing internals, as they would need to know compression in order to design an effective turbo system.
------------------
David Coleman- Moderator
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
V6 engine info | KL FAQ | ECU reprogramming | K series Image cache | Probetalk Archive Search
