Brakes, dimming lights
I notice when i am stopped<BR>and i press the brake hard, the dash lights dim, and the engine drops a touch in rpms<BR>then if i release again ( not fully cuz the car stands still ) then push down again, they dim again and the rpms drop down, then pick up right away, is somethign wrong with my alternator? What's happening is that when you hit the brakes, you actuate the brake booster which operates off engine-created vacuum; the result of this is a "vacuum-drop" until the system balances out...regarding the dimming lights when the brakes are hit; the drop in the aforementioned vacuum situation, causes the engine speed to drop, SLOWING the alternators RPM's too.
