hay i was just wondering to top speed of a unmotified mx3 for bout the 4 and 6 cil. from what i have found is that i have been able to get my 4cil mx3 up to 120 but i havent tried to top that n e 1 gone higher <p>[ January 29, 2003: Message edited by: Custommx3 ]</p>

Bet that took you a while to get up to 120mph in a 4cyl, was it sohc or dohc?<p>I'm not sure if anyone knows the drag limitations of a MX-3 but that is what you need to worry about. Top speed is determined by a few factors. Torque, Horsepower, Gearing, and Drag coefficient. Your horsepower and gearing determine the maximum speed you can reach with the transmission. Then you need to factor in your drag coefficient which will reduce that speed because, obviously, everything produces drag.<p>I don't know the exact ratios or equations for all of this stuff though, I just know that's how it works. I believe a V6 Mx-3 is limited to like 130-140mph top speed without modification. I know that because mine slowly crept up to 130 once (Fifth gear is a dog above 115). I'm guessing a 4cyl in any form is limited to like 120-130 top speed.

SOHC 112mph, maybe able to squeeze 1-2 more miles an hour if i drove another 80 miles, lol, there was another thread like this sometime back, do a search.

I have hit 97 mph on a long *** straight away with my 4 cyl

Do a search for "top speed". It has been brougt up 3 or four times..I have been up to 134 in my modded dohc rs.

hay well i hit 100 easly in my car so saiyajin i think u can do better lol. and hy300 it did take me like 2 miles going down this huge hill and u r right it dose dog in 5th after 115. hay well thanks for the reply guys.

The fastest i was going was 124 mph with my 94 16V DOHC.

I can go 233 miles an hour in my mx-3....

Just kiddin Thats about as believeable as someone going 120+ in a SOHC RS!! I can only get my RS to about 112... I can get my GS up to around 125.

I got my '94 RS up to 125 but it started to get squirelly so I slowed down, it probably could have gone faster but I didn't want to take that chance. The RS is geared higher than the GS so thats why it can go as fast if not faster.

how do u know what engin u have besides knowing werther its a 4 0r 6 cil. i have a 4cil but but i dont know what tyupe it is, a shoc or a dohc

I have only gotten my 1992 SOHC to 102 on the hwy. The dang engine just isnt strong enough to go any faster.<p>When I dynoed it last- I did a "top speed run" on the Dyno and let off the gas pedal at 127 mph. I didnt want to blow up my car. I still had a little bit left to go-- but not much.<p>For those who want to know-<p> My 1992 SOHC dynoed at 66.7 HP and 70.5 ft. lbs of torque to the wheels. <p>Only engine mods are NGK wires/plugs and an HKS filter adapter w/ a weaponR Filter.<p>The SOHC CAN go at least 127 MPH- but not on an open road.<p>Well it could go faster if it was dropped off the side of a cliff or out of an airplane... but thats about the only way.<p> I highly doubt anyone who says they got their stock 92-93 SOHC above 105 mph. The aerodynamic Drag is too great and its pretty much mathematically impossible.<p>See my car @Perrys' Car
