Finally getting somewhere..need help.

I posted a while back that my stock cd player wasnt working. After taking it to a shop they said it was gone and couldnt be fixed. Turns out the bastards lied. It appears to me upon further investigation the cd only goes half way in before the lens area goes down to read the cd. The display works and if u hold the eject button it will eject the half in cd . Doesnt seem like a major prob. I am sure that apart from this the cd player works. Any ideas on how to fix it?
thanks

your best bet is to buy a used replacement from a place like ebay or mazda reycling.com mabe a local auto wrecker. (I think it is the same part as a Mx-6 or 626.) this will avoid expensive tech repair bills that are often a bandaid for the problem.

How much money are you going to invest in this stupid POS 10 year old CD player? It costs $75 US at most places just to look at your CD player. You can get a brand new Pioneer for $100 US. WTF is the matter with you?

First off, our cars will NEVER be collectors items. They are a niche car. Keeping it 'stock' doesn't mean anything. I agree keep it stock LOOKING, but the actual OEM radio on a 12 year old car? Second, even people with 57 Chevys and 63 Vettes get aftermarket radios for thier cars if they want to listen to anything worthwhile. If you want something plain looking that will fit in the interior, I recommend a base level Clarion deck.

If you're still that nuts about fixing your headunit, like I said, most places will give you a $75 minimum for just labor. If it's a loading mechanism issue, it could be mechanical like a broken clip or spring, or it could be electrical as in a broken loading sensor. Either way, because the radio is so old, you're likely looking at having to buy an entire parts radio to fix your radio. The issue is moot no matter how you slice it.

I agree with what u r saying. I will look into getting my stock radio fixed. In canada its only 25 bucks for diagnostics. If its too much i will leave it. I like that clarion deck alot. It looks kinda stock. U have any idea how much it is. Thanks for posting that. I will prolly get that if the stock one is beat.

It's $90 shipped brand new on eBay.

Clarion is a good aftermarket brand that has been around for over a decade doing car stereos.
