Too Sensitive Black widow alarm

Post by Mastirmynd »

Ive got a black widow alarm in my car, and i usually dont arm it when i go somewhere because its so sensitive. If the wind blows hard enough it will set it off, or if a big truck drives by. So my question is: is there something i can do to make it less sensitive? Also, how do i wire my lights to blink when i arm/disarm it? the guy that had it put in was cheap, it only beeps.

Yeah my friends truck has an alarm like that. If you jump near it the thing goes off. There is most likely an adjuster near the brain just like Jeff said. Try to find it and that should do the trick.

If you mean the parking lights, I just wired mine to the black/red on the dimmer switch.

all you need to do to get yourlights to work is find the correct 12+ output wire on the brain. You can get schematics on the internet of your alarm or your installer can easily get them too.

The wire that you want to use coming from the brain is the White wire. Also you want to check your alarm to see if there is a jumper on it. Some alarms will have a jumper to switch from Positive triger to negative. you want to make sure that it is set on positive. Your black widow alarm depending on which one you have will either have an external shock sensor or one built in. If its built in just look for a little turn dial on the brain to adjust the sensitivity. If it's external i believe most black widows have a little black box with a either a 3 wire strand running from it. a red blue and green wire.
