radio problem
I bought my car used so i dont have the code for the radio. It displays error the whole time when i turn it on. I tried every procedure in the audio section in the tech pages and nothing worked. I read on there that if the wrong code is tried three times the radio becomes useless due to the security system and you need to buy something else. Is this true? Or can i take it to mazda and have them fix it? I have searched and tried everything i found. someone please help me. thanks in advance.

Re: radio problem
My best advice to you would be to buy a aftermarket CD player. They really arn't that expensive. Go to Wal-Mart and get a 100 dollar pioneer deck. Just make sure you get a wiring harness, so you don't have to cut the factory wires.

P.S. Where ya from in Indiana, I live near Brookville.

Also I could'nt find the wireing harness at Wal-Mart, but I finally located it at AutoZone.
And buying a new CD Player would probeley be cheaper than taking the car to mazda.

Re: radio problem
I had a cd player, sub, and amp in my car but they all got stolen recently. So i am alittle reluctant to replace them when i cant even lock my car now because of the a$$hole who broke my lock. So not even mazda can re-program the radio? I mean there has to be a way for them to do it for cases such as mine where i never knew the code to begin with. Thanks for the help.

Kurt i am not an idiot i tried the audio page. None of those methods suggested in those sections worked. ONE LAST TIME, DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF IT CAN BE REPROGRAMMED BY MAZDA? OR DO I NEED TO BUY AN AFTERMARKET CD PLAYER?

Re: radio problem
Yes Mazda can unlock it. Ask nicely they may do it for free. Expect to pay though.
I had this problem with my 4Runner. Wouldnt give me the code, wouldnt unlock it unless I made an appointment with the service department, they had me wait almost an hour, and the fuhquers charged me $40. Luckily the tech wrote the factory code on the work order and the service advisor let me see it. So as I am cashing out I asked the service advisor what to do with the code (as if I didnt know) he said "oh, just power on the car and just type in the code". This, the same service advisor that told me on the phone what a complicated process it is, it is very involved, and having the code itself isnt enough, need to make an appointment, etc. What a liar.
If you do decide to get another stereo, factory stereos are on eBay all the time cheap. I got one for $.01 plus shipping. Worked perfect.
