I'm saving up for a clifford alarm. I never had the chance to set-up an alarm. I don't want to spend money on the installation. Can you guys with expriance with alarms explain to me step by step on how to install an alarm?

If u have never done it before, and have no experience, then get it installed or else u will be bound to screw up

dude this is not something you should be cheap about but if you thnk you have the know how to put in your own alarm I'll give you the wires you need. P.S. in my opinion cliffords are a pain in the *** to install and don't work great (i've only installed 2 though), I'd look into viper/python or alpine. Thanks for the replies. I have alot of wiring experiance and I just haven't had the chance to wire an alarm system. Is that list of wires and colors for the 1993 Sohc Mx3 cars?

all years are the same but I belive your rs will need 2 actuators (one for each door) if your plan on doing power locks (well worth the time)

Like othe people have said i would not do it if you have no know how. Also clifford has no instuctions that come with it you have to be autherized to install cliford if you dont know what the color coded wires on the brain are you will not be able to install the alarm.

cliford alarms are made dei and the same company as viper. It is not that hard to install an alarm. 90% of the wires are found behind the stereo. power, ground, acc, parklights (two wires one dimms, one does not, use the one that does not). Goto drivers kick panel for door trigger. know all you have to do is run a wire into the hood for your siren. there is already a rubber grommet just slice a hole through it and your done. What ever you do not use scotch locks. They are the worst possible connection you can have. If possible soilder all your wire. I tape all every peice of wire that comes of the brain of the alarm that way you can see your work and it looks factory. I also loom the wire under the hood. Any dei product will be fine.

Does that mean that the 2 actuators to trigger the power door locks with the alarm remote is already in my car meaning all I have to do is wire it up to the alarm brain or do the 2 actuators come with the alarm system?

Even though dei now owns the 'Clifford" name they have nothing in common with the rest of the dei line (Viper, Python, Sidewinder, Rattler, Avital, etc). When you say you have power locks you mean that if you flip (mechanicly moving not and electrical switch) your driver side lock switch your passenger door locks? If you do the same on the pass side nothing should happen to the driver door. If this is the case than you will only require one door actuator in your driver side door. You will also have to wire that actuator through a relay in order to make it work. Like Mazda_stud said alarms are not hard to install as long you have a solid grasp of your cars electrical system as well as some fairly basic electrical knowledge (making good conections, getting good grounds, using relays, etc).<p>[ April 05, 2003: Message edited by: Da_Wiggy ]</p>
