i had 2 12" jl w0 and a small rockford amp and it sounded like s---...my advice would be go for say 2 10's in a bandpass, and get quality subs like say w3 or something with dual coil or alpine type s ore type r and get a powerful amp and quality because then your gains will be set low and it will sound awesome..if u have a performance muffler your treble will suffer so i recommend and amp on your regualr speakers, agaion better quality....<P>good luck

Whatever you get, just remember to match the rms ratings of the amp to subs. Do this and any combination will work great.

2 12's will sound good becuase you are hitting all the frequences of a 15 and a 10. The reason they sounded like crap was the quility of the subs. Entry level stuff will never sound as good as well as when you get high end stuff. As for the Rockford amp I have nothing bad to say about the company and I highley recomend there products. I work in this industry and it is really hard to tell people what they should buy. What would sound amazing in you car would be a numerous amount of possiblities it all depends on your budget and what kind of music you listen to. I would recommend a solo baric because the are supper loud and all you really nead is one. Personally I would not buy a type S, Buy a type R for the extra money, it is worth it. As for an amp simply match up the specs to your speakers and buy a respected name. Good Luck!
