you have to take the wire off and run new wire... its pretty hard b/c of where the alternator is, but my buddy has a lift so its not too bad for me

!
If you ahve a stock alternator, its not gonna help much. 8awg is really enough for a 90amp alt... I am getting a 190amp alt and I am only running 4 awg
really, I planned on running 1/0 awg, but Ohio Generator says that it can harm parts of the alternator(and it did to a friend of mine's alternator)
I would say if you want to upgrade something, upgrade the ground wire off of your battery. That is supposed to help a lot

I upgraded all the grounds to 4 gauge and 0 gauge battery ground and I know 4 gauge alternator wiring is over kill but it would match the rest of the wires. I know my shiz but I was just looking tips or comments before I dive in. How much are you paying for the O.G. alt?

too much... retail is 525$
and I know what you mean about matching all of your wires... I wanted to run my 1/0 awg alternator wire to match the rest of mine.
