I'm strapped for money right now... so a sub with box and amp is not in the picture right now. BUT just want to know what you people think about this set up...<P>In the front mount 2 6.5" 2-way speakers.<BR>In the back mount 2 6.5" subwoofers.<P>What do you think? It's a cheap way to go for bass and decent sound.<BR>Does anyone have this kinda set up?...

If you don't have a lot of money get a 8" sub with a cheap amp in a ported box. As far as the 2 6.5 inch subwoofers, there is no such thing as a 6.5" sub. A speaker that size could never even come close to reaching true sub frequencies. It just couldn't move enough air. I don't know your money situation , but there are some subs and amps out there that are cheap as a mother fu@ker. Albeit the quality has a direct relationship with price, you get what you pay for.

The thing played 30hz notes so nicely. I was amazed it was only a 6 1/4" sub, so to correct, yes the 6.5" subs can play, but dont expect to much output from them.

I knew someone would mention a home theater sub. Those are specifically made to produce low bass notes. That comparison is irrelevant when talking about car speakers. Any 6.5" speaker made for a car is designed to produced , at best, upper bass notes on up through the midrange . A true subwoofer should make notes that approach 20Hz without distortion. Even a very good 6.5" CAR SPEAKER couldn't come close to that in the factory locations. I admit you could get bass out of smaller speakers, but they wouldn't compare to a good sub.

Lots of people arehappy with the bass it puts out for a 6" sub.
