Accessing the Side of the Head Unit?

Post by GMGQ »

I need to remove the panels on either side of the deck.
I checked the online shop manual, and I got as far as removing the lower console(i.e. where the the middle arm rest, gear area, ashtray, etc). But I couldn't figure out how to remove the next part up. I assume I don't have to remove the whole upper dash??
TIA.

what year is your car? if you have a 1994 and up dash then you have to remove the trim piece around the dashcluster inorder to remove the top piece of the radio besil and then the piece that holds down the radio is all one and will come off with a few screws.
good luck
Killer mx3

I've got a 96GS.
What do you mean by the "trim piece around the dashcluster"? The instrument cluster?

Yes the Instrument cluster. If you want to remove the center console pieces you must take it off the then you will see screws below it, then you must pull the piece surrounding the deck off with clips except the screw behind the ashtray and then you remove more screws to release the whole part where the deck sits. hope this helps
Killermx3
