I just bought a pair of Kenwood 6 1/2 for front. They are totally busted Image I was wondering is it a simple install for the doors or do I need to get a wiring harness. Some say you don't need them, others say you do. I would appreciate any assistance in this matter. Thanks

I dunno about the paticular Kenwood speakers you got, but if it's holes don't match up with the holes for the stock speakers, then:
a) if the speaker is like 6" or so, and will fit over the metal of the door, then you could just drill some additional holes into the metal, to match up to the Kenwood's screw holes
b) if the kenwoods are smaller than the speaker hole in the door, then you will have to make a custom bracket/adapter. Basically a "ring" shape. So that the kenwood would screw into the ring, and the ring would screw into the existing screw holes in the door. I made mine out of lucite.
Other than that, the wiring is pretty straight forward. You can either cut the wires, and resolder them. Or just attach the wires with butt or spade connectors.
------------------
----
Gary Mui ( gary.mui@sinnovations2.com )
Sales Representative
Streamline Innovations 2
Vancouver, BC
604.312.9588
www.sinnovations2.com
mx3slimvisors.2ya.com

Make sure you check to see if the window clears the speaker magnets when it is all the way down! Don't ask why I know this! Image

Thanks for the suggestions. I installed the Kenwood speakers. I have to drill new holes. Right now they are in place with 1 screw. I had to go buy a drill, never thought I would need one Image But I never did roll the window down, it is too FREAKIN' HOT Image
