Where should the subwoofers be facing in the rear hatch? The front, back, or up? And do angled boxes work well? i want an install that doesn't fill up my whole hatch! i like having space to toss my stuff! Help!!!!<P>------------------<BR>thanks,<BR>-=*Heather*=-<BR>'93 Mazda MX-3 Special Edition

well, the position is gonna be pretty hard to determine without knowing your subs and how much they are driving. the best way to figure this out is borrow a box from someone that is flat-faced and one that is angle-faced. then try the flat one facing up and the angled one facing the rear. the most practical idea is to just get a box with the correct dimensions and go with which ever box will take up the least amount of room. <BR>flat-up angled-rear<P>i had my subs facing the front of my car with my seat down for awhile. when i turned them back the rear, where they were at first, i could notice the difference.<P>------------------<BR>93 MX-3

up Up UP!!!<P>Up is the BEST way. the back hatch glass is perfect far bass. if you can try to tip the rear of the cabinet back so the speaker is parallel to the glass. the bass gets compressed and focused well. if you cant tip it you can still keep it level with the trunk cover, but try to keep it BELOW 30 degrees

It completely depends on the enclosure you are using. I would suggest the following combinations.<P>2-sub Bandpass or Sectioned Ported Box, Face it so the ports are facing the back of the car, with the box as far toward the cab as possible. That way the bass will reflect off the back of the car increasing tone, and response.<P>Sealed (not recomended for an open cab car) Put that with the subs facing upward.<P>If you plan to build a custom fiberglass, or MDF box, what I'm doing is placing the subs at the far rear, facing upward, with a small tilt inward and forward. (I've got 2 12" Soundstream Rubicon) But I am more into displaying what I have as well as overall performance, and wound quality.<P>Hope any of this helps<BR>~Ryan~
