I got my new computer :) yay

I got my new computer today !

its a DELL P3 500 MHZ with 256 MB ram, 6 Gig HD
and a 4 MB video card, sound car, network card,CD rom, 17 inch monitor, mouse and keyboard.

all for $285.00 cdn including tax = $196.00 USD befor tax.

Im happy now.

You coulda got alot better for the price curt. And wasnt the 500mhz intel chip a PII? I have a 500mhz celeron board that was a parrallel to a PII processor.

let me re-phrase, Find me a cheaper complete system that is Faster than the one I got, within the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).

155 CDN (approx) for just a tower, they dont ship to canada, I have no place to ship to in the US, and if I did it would be like 30-40 CDN for shipping, + 30-40 CDN for gas to go and pick it up, approx 50-70 CDN for a 17 monitor, plus an huge ammount of hassel and time I dont have.

= approx 350 CDN for my time and my money (my time is very valuable)

Ebay stuff looks good on the surface but for a canadian you have to look deeper and the deals usualy dont hold up.

I got my computer from a stor down the road, if there are any problems I can just go back there and have it delt with.

All I do is surf the net, download music and videos, my limit was $300.00 cdn with the least ammount of hassels, even if I could get a G5 mac for $600.00 CDN I wouldnt buy it cause its more than $300.00.

Fastest chips on the market now are:

AMD Athlon XP: 3200+ Barton @ 2.2 GHz w/ 400 MHz FSB and 512k L2 cache.

AMD Athlon 64: 3400+ Clawhammer @ 2.2 GHz /w integrated FSB and 1MB L2 cache (64-bit processor)

Intel Pentium 4: P4 Northwood w/ Hyperthreading @ 3.2 GHz w/ 800 MHz FSB and 512k L2 cache.

Intel Celeron: Celeron @ 2.7 GHz /w 400 MHz FSB and 128k L2 cache.

Personally I'm an AMD fan, Athlons give great performance for their price.

thanks for help. is there any on ebay that anyone saw that are nice deals now, I have 500mhz intel celeron pc and it aint that fast, of course its much faster from when i got it, it had 32mb memory, now has 256mb top, 4.3gb hard drive upgraded to maxtor 120gb with 8mb cache, installed dvd-rom instead of ol rom drive and also added sony cd-rw drive, so its pretty good comp now, but next upgrade is motherboard/pc, this one is bad i guess, since it has built in graphics card, so i can't easily change it out and pc itself is old. thats the thing i hate about comp, today its fastest and newest out there, 2 yrs from now itll be slowest and dorkiest.

Also when i buy new processor on egay or retailer, does it usually come with cd-rom with windows on it or boot cd-rom?

its funny, whenever a price is said someone ALWAYS says oh I could have got that cheaper, or... you paid too much! Come on! Geez! We dont all live in the same small town with the same stores - prices are dependant on location. Especially canada - US prices...

Thats a great deal for a full computer, all computers on ebay or overpriced or under equipped. Try shipping a full computer with a 17" monitor from 3500 km down south! Can you say 100 dollars shipping for something that may or may not work? Anyway....
