you know what I find disturbing.....
here in Ontario you need to provide proof of insurance in order to renew your plate sticker. This is just fine if you were to go into the MTO to renew. If you go to one of their self-serve kiosks they have in malls all you need to do is name any insurance company and it gives you your new sticker. Just think of how many people are driving around without insurance right now.

Dangerous as for the people running away from cops cuz they didnt have insurance,, and its dangerous for you from the point that you will lose alot over not having insurance. not only the 5000 dollar fine but also that you have to pay all the costs of the accident,,,, well, you do the math,,,

I was pulled over a few months ago while i was under a 60 day suspension, and i had no insurance. The two cops had to let me go because i was on private property. I would have had my licence suspended for 3 years, and been faced with a minimum $5000.00 ticket. Not to mention, my insurance rates would have been like 4x what im paying now.
Why was i pulled over? I was going ~70km/h though the parking lot at Molsen Park in Barrie (i know stupid). But whatever, i've got my licence back now :D .

yes.. all you guys said were true. However, some people will still take the risk. some teens are driving like 80s american cars. they are not gonna pay2000 or more a year for the car not even worth 100. well, people will do anything for saving money

zytar the min fine isnt 5000 dollars, my friend got pulled over without insurance and without a license, the insurance ticket was only 175 bucks and the license one was 300 bucks. Im not sure the fines that much maybe where you are but in oregon thats way off.

I live in Ottawa, Ontario and I got pulled over a year and a half ago for speeding. Anyways, I didn't have my insurance slip on me, and I got a $110 ticket for driving without insurance, but I had 48 hours to bring the slip to the police station and get it revoked.
