Take it to court!! I had a similiar ticket (85 in a 60, that was my second ticket) i paid up the $250 on the first one and was like...why'd i do that for?? If you take it to court they will probably lower it to a $50 fine with no points, and you'll be home free!! fight it! fight it!
hehe :)
it was a tad harder to fight mine though because it was my second ticket and my first one was pretttttty bad *embarassed*. But i was still let off, cause i made the trip to the court office.
Do not worry... fight it and your insurance will not know about it :)

yeah, definately take it to court. Wear a suit, shave, and be polite like nothing else. And you will be fine. just hope that you dont have to take that Driver improvment class. You probably wont. But i've had 2 speeding tickets, 2 no seatbelts, and one bad inspection sticker. and my insurance has never changed. Take it to court and it will be all good. :D

Get a lawyer, and they will take care of EVERYTHING for you....they will knock it down to like 58 and then they will drop it in court anyways. And insurance will never know anything about it.

This is reality...
I got a speeding ticket for going 144km/h in a 90km/h zone. I paid x-coppers $500.00 to fight this ticket and they came back with a 134km/h in a 90km/h zone ticket. The ticket was worth 4 points and since i only had 3 points left i lost my licence for 60 days (i just got it back yesterday).
Previous to that I had a ticket for 121km/h in a 50km/h zone. I took it to court myself, dressed up nice and was very polite to the judge...and the cop never showed up. They simply just rescheduled another court date right on the spot. The whole myth of tickets being ripped up if the cop never shows is complete bull ****. Nevertheless, when the second court date came around I didn’t get anywhere and was slapped in the face with a $734.00 ticket and 6 points.
I now pay ~$380.00/month for a 92' Mx-3 GS lol. Self inflicted? Yes. Am I stupid? Very. To make a long story short, i now drive like a little old lady and almost never go past 15km/h over the posted speed limit. It's just not worth it :( ...
[ February 14, 2003: Message edited by: zytariuk ]

Errr that's expensive. How many points did you lose for the 124 in a 50 zone?

I got quite a few speeding tickets before due to the fact that our car is so fun to drive. About 2 years ago, I got my last ticket when I was so desperate to see my girl friend when she che_ted on me  .
It was about 11pm on week days and I was going about 85 mph in 35 mph zone. The police was hiding near the church, and the funny thing was I saw him looking at my eyes. Anyway, I slowed down and pulled over at the next corner. He checked if I were drunk, then gave me a ticket. All he said was I was going too fast and he set the time for the court.
On the day I went to the court, I was wearing something nice, and tried to be polite. As I got into the court room, there were tons of people with traffic violations. Each of us make his or her own excuse to lower the fine. The first question the judge asked me was "are you guilty or not?". If I say 'no', I'll probably need to go find my lawer, but I didn't want to waste money on it. I think I said like "I think I am". He asked me why, and I honestly described my situation, and it came down to $260 (us) or so. I don't know if my insurance went up or not, but I used pay about $1500 a year (about $125 a month) for full coverage. I live in Nebraska, and it must help my insurance rate low.
bungo

You had to waste your time and gas just to get rescheduled to come back in. Geez, what a messed up system. I've NEVER had a cop come to one of my court cases, then never do, and they still go on as planned.

Bundy, your absolutely right. Canada sounds like it has a fukked up system. Here, you go to court either way, whether the cop tells you your fine or not. Once you get in there, you'll be with tons of other people who have had traffic violations, I've had to do this once before, and doing it for a second time in April. Go dressed up nice, be polite and straight foward, appologize and dont try to bullsh!t. Then he wont give it to you up the azz. Its all about your attitude and how you come off to the judge.....UNLESS he's just in a really bad mood and feels like being a ****.
[ February 22, 2003: Message edited by: MX3_Racer120 ]
[ February 22, 2003: Message edited by: MX3_Racer120 ]

I got a lawyer. I was going 61mph in a 35. I paid my lawyer $250 and he went to court for me and everything. All I have to do is take the class and send him confirmation that I did and he's going to go to court again for me. No points, no insurance, nothing.
