hey, I know this is probably a repeat item, but couldn't find the answer by searching... tried the hints in the tech/audsys/ section to no avail too...
so here it comes again... my battery went kaput about a week ago and when i got the car back i had the dreaded "code" signal flashing... 'course it was 9 years ago when i entered my secret code... and I haven't had enough ginko to remember that far back....
closest I came to getting my music back was the C. tip except the numbers 1414 don't seem to work... just read from the miata site that there is a specific order to press the AutoM/Scan (scan then auto)... will try at lunch today... only recourse is to try all 10000 combos... don't look forward to that though...
anybody out there know the code for a radio (cassette deck only) from a '93 mazda (red) v6 purchased in Toronto Canada area (dealer since closed, as has the closest dealer who also closed shortly after I bought a 1984 626 from him)... so far I've closed 2 dealerships it seems... thus my name "closer"...
phoned Mazda Canada and all they told me was that only a dealer could help me... told them what I thought of that gouging routine!... closest dealer is also 50 miles away!
any help would be appreciated... thanks

Man, what a struggle this is trying to get my radio up and working again... BTW, thanks Barry for the lead but the 1414 number gets me a flashing err still... are there other codes I can try?
so far I've used 1414, 4989. 5011
I'm pressing Scan, AM/FM, AutoM, TuneUp once... the four dashes appear... I type in the code, then hold AutoM/Scan together Have also tried various combos of holding one then the other first as well)... and presto... 2 seconds later I get the err message again...
I drove the fifty miles to the closest mazda dealer and asked him for the code... he asked for my registration (I suspected to very that I was indeed the owner of the vehicle parked right outside his window!!), then my insurance, then all my address and phone... when he asked for my keys, I told him all I needed was the four digit code... he explained that there was a procedure he had to perform... so I informed him that the only procedure he was going to try and perform was to dip his hands in my pocket and try and grab 60 bucks... and that it wasn't going to happen... also asked him if he could hear the sound of zoom, zoom zoom... cause it was the sound of me getting as far as possible from his shop as quickly as possible...
I'm really getting ticked here... I work with young offenders, most of whom assure me that after they rip out my car stereo they have access to codes and other equipment that can get it working again with minutes... so why can't I as the owner do the same???
any help you've got would be greatly appreciated... I'm off on a trip tomorrow and would really like to have some tunes to keep me awake!
