i have a rather strange idle problem.. ocassionally when i stop the idle will rev wildly... but then i take my foot off the brake it stops and settles around 1500-2000 then after a while drops down to normal... any one know why putting my foot on the brake would cause the engine to idle so wildly?

Not sure if this is the case for you but I had a Civic once that did the same thing. It turned out to be a vacuum leak. Look around under the hood for obvious signs. It also helps sometimes to use a can of WD40 and spray suspect fittings. If you spray on a leak the idle should momentarily go back to normal. Wish I would offer more help.

take off you intake tubes (big one, and the two small tubes). Clean em out, with some intake cleaner. Check for cracks and holes.
And if you want to it's a good time to clean out the idle control valve.
U can also check all the other little tubes that are on your intake manifold.
When you put it back together make sure everything is sealed. Might have to clean up the engine side that the tubes attach too. You don't want any air leaks. Nice and tight.
Now adjust your idle (use the tutorial in the faq or do a search for idle).
Hope this helps
