Intake questions

Post by Redlined »

So maybe this has been asked on here before but I have not found the answer in any of the searches I have done. I wan't an intake, preferably a CAI but I want it to make that nice intake sound. I created a homemade one last year and did not get much of a sucking choop sound at all. I was wondering what intake all you mxers are using from other cars for instance the integra and cutting it up. Does the intake for an integra make a nice sound? I really want to hear it when I put it to the floor and pick up speed. BTW I have the MX-3 I4 DOHC Thanx for all the help in recent replies! :welder:

PRM=OVERPRICED

You can get the same effect for much cheaper by purchasing an intake for a Prelude & doing some minor mods, or just looking at intake pipe off of Ebay for other cars & seeing what you think has the best bends in it.

A home made system will have about the same sound sound as a kit... If you want sound, keep your old CAI and put an exhaust system on it. Thats where the majority of your sound is going to come from.

I already have an exhaust system. ANd my intake really blows :laugh: Some goof out here took apart a hair dryer and put it in his intake in reverse so it sucked in air and blew it into the motor. Sounded sweet as hell but was soo stupid. Anyway do you guys think the prelude or the integra intake is a closer fit. I know Ill have to customize both but what one is a better fit or is there a better one? Someone please help me

look at my cardomain page, its an acura integra 1 piece cold air. i cut it and made a cold air in to the bottom of the fender, and it sounded awsome. it doesent get any better, unless you have a V-tec. dont get the PRM, it utilizes the that stock rubber hose with the ribs that take away from the flow and the sound your looking for. i heard weapon R is making them for the MX, as well as some place on ebay for like 60 bucks. it looked prommising, there was a post on it a while back. but mine sounded great. i also got that cone filter on ebay for like 10 bucks, the silver one. it is the highest flow youl be able to get, all it is, is a screen mesh not even a filter really. its the exact same one corksport sells for like 60 bucks. that will help with the sound a litte.

i think its for like a 94-97, i cant rember the bran name. you can get some off of ebay for under 50 bucks, its not the same brand as the one i got but they have the same bends in them, and will work just as good.

i'd get the PRM dude, i have it and it sounds great. the best thing about the PRM is that it comes with an inline filter and you can pretty much customize the intake pipe to any place you want to put it
