I HAVE NO EGR VALVE????

Ever since i bought this car all the idle problems i have had with it everybody said: check the EGR valve.... so i went to check it today and could not find it so i looked in my chiltons and there was nothing about the 1.6L so i got on here and looked and found some very good replies about the location.. so i went to look for it and it was not there... to make a long story short i ended up taking off the whole intake manifold and throttle body looking for it... and never found it... but thats ok cause i needed to clean them out anyway... but i don't know what to do now... i mean how good can that be not have a EGR valve? is this common? thanks

Its fine not to have an egr valve!!! Its only has to do with emissions.....recycles exhaust back into the system!! If you would swap to a engine from Japan it also wouldnt have an egr valve. I wouldnt worry about it, its not hurting anything!!
