1992 MX-3 SOHC : I just recently had my head gaskets rebuilt and my car idles really low now. I've tried everything on it so far. I've tried timing it with the gun and checking if it was getting enough fuel. I think I've spent too much on this car already (rebuilt transmission, new starter, rebuilt gaskets, new radiator, new calipers, new master cylinder, new brake booster) Can anybody help me with this idle problem and tell me some kinds of solutions?

When you say it idles low, how low? 500, 600? It should be anywhere from 700 - 800 at idle. Anywhere else needs to be adjusted on the TB air flow...

I'm saying that when I start my car it idles at around 1500 rpm then slowly drops to 1000 rpm and sometimes stays there, but when I put my car on drive the rpms just die and drop to 0

hey i have the same problem!!!! same car too.... did you set the idle from the diagnostic plug on the firewall? this is very important or it will never be right.

No I haven't tried that yet but I'll try it right now. Is there anything else that might fix this idle problem? I heard something about a EGR(or something) Valve might be the problem or having something to do about it? Any ideas?

How do you set the idle from the diagnostics plug on the firewall? I'm not really familiar with that?

on your diagnostic plug... open it up and there will be a diagram on the inside cover look for the one that says "ten" it will be up top... then look for one that says "grd" it will be on bottom.. get a piece of wire and connect them while idling the engine will bog down, and the check engine light will come on... this is normal, then adjust the idle via that screw that is down in that metal tube looking thing on your throttle body, it may have a rubber cap in it... anyway adjust the idle to where you want it and pull the wire off... it took me a bunch of times for some reason before mine would set. i may have a bad computer... anyway this basicaly resets the idle through the ecu... good luck ( very easy to do)

Yeah it looks like it didn't work as good. The thing is that the idle is really low and that when I seem to use anything eletrical like the windows or CD Player, the RPM's would drop even lower and the whole engine would shake. Actually anything electrical makes the RPM's drop. Any suggestions?
