You can do the swap for less than 1500 bucks, but Id spend a little more and upgrade some parts while you had the engine out (flywheel and clutch, axles, ball joints)

And one more thing... u better have some serious cash if you want to put the RX7 motor in an MX-3.
You'll need a new drivetrain, tranny, motor, ECU, wiring, axles, pretty much everything on an RX-7, plust LOTS of custom work.
[ September 03, 2002: Message edited by: Custommx3 ]

Its much cheaper just to swap the KL-ZE than a 13b. You're talking about way too many custom modifications for a 13b and you'd have to swap out so much of the MX-3 it wouldn't be worth it unless you had several thousand usd to play with ontop of the engine price.

13B would require RWD. RWD would require alot of custom fabrication. Custom fabrication would cost more than 2k. More like 5k I'd wager, even if you "know people".

Hahaha my mx-3 is parked next to Rx-7, I'd like to see you get a 13B or 13BTT in there!! Why not just buy an rx-7 and save yourself some money. 3rd gen that is

If you put it sideways with a custom tranny it should work as well. I know that they use the 13b in the older VW beetles and they have to be set up sideways. I guess I just don't understand.
