Where do the OEM tach's in these cars get thier measurments? Are they electric or mechanical? And if it is electrical, where does the signal come out of?

Depends on the year actually 94+ were electirc. You can prolly find a wiring diagram for them in the online shop manual at the host site for this forum

They are all electircal :p
The tach gets its signal from the negitive coil terminal. For the DOHC the coil is part of the disty so it will get its signal from there.

the cable is for the speedo. SOHC MX's ran a cable speed sender and the DOHC's ran a electrical sender.
