Mod chip

Okay, the poor, unwitting bastard that posted the 'mod chip' deal in the 4sale forum....I've seen these deals on ebay and stuff. If these chips ultimately fool the ecu into providing more fuel in response to an inflated airflow reading, wouldn't the engine run rich and end up in the same mess as the "MAF mod" whereby some little gear gets turned or some such?
Please let me know if I'm getting warmer here as I'm trying to get a good understanding of the A/F management.
Thanks.

Oh yeah...B4 any replies....Please know that I do understand that there are no magic formulas for HP. +C.I.=+H.P or more dense A/F charge = more bang for your buck....provided the rods, rings, etc. can handle it.

Same gimmick. Essentially it is a resistor that gets put inline at the water temp sensor or the air temp sensor to fool the ecu into dumping more fuel.
