Mazda engineers caught sleeping.

they must have been with where they located the fill spout on the tranny at the bottom back of engine under stuff. AND to make it so that if you loose brake fluid you cant shift either if you get much air in the line. Its just a bad idea to me to have them combined. Sorry to rant, worked on brakes and filled tranny.

Say what?!?<p>If you worked on your brakes, they need to be bled, You need to do this at the resevoir (aka brake fluid resevoir, aka clutch fluid resevoir, found on the brake booster). The fill hole for the tranny fluid is for just that, tranny fluid, no clutch or brake fluid. The tranny fluid stays in the tranny, it is used to lubricate and repel heat and friction. The fluid that you should be using in the clutch/brake fluid resevoir is completely different. Not only does this fluid control the brakes a la pressure to squeeze the pistons but it also puts pressure on the clutch fork actuator to allow the clutch to engage and disengage.<p>I suggest you drain you tranny fluid to save yourself a possibly expensive repair and start over. Go get yourself some Redline MTF for the tranny and some DOT4 brake fluid for the brakes. Use the online shop manual for assistance, maybe pic up a Chiltons for step by step pictures as they do help.

Maldo, sorry i combined idea's. Here is what I was saying.<p>1. The fill spout for the transmission is in a pain in the butt spot. My last car was much easier as it was accessable from the bottom of the car. That is how i feel personally. <p>2. When doing the brakes I find the fact that the resevoir being combined with the brakes and clutch is a bad idea. I mean if you loose brakes by breaking a line you will have no fluid quick which will then leave no fluid and air in the lines of the clutch. So if you loose breaks you cant down shift to slow down you will be kept in the gear your at or maybe neutral and hope no one is in front of you that you will hit.

yeah dood, i WISH they designed the manuals like the auto. the auto'/s have a dipstick w/tube going into it. You can just fill it up by shoving the fluid into the tube. I wouldn't care about how slow it'd take...it'd save a LOT of heart ache compared to that stupid speedometer gear opening!!!<p>And half the time the speedo gear is frozen to the transmission and nearly impossible to remove!

wow a positive point for the auto !
lol but they have many downsides as well
when i first read your post 92 i was a little worried but i got what you were trying to say
