welcome to the site. there is a search function that will give you loads of information.
the main thing is what your goal is. small, basic stuff? do you want "true" performance? it goes from as small as intake/exhaust up to engine swaps.

I would start with things u can do yourself remove every tube attached to the air intake box (not including the vacuum hose or the throttlebody) that'll help till you get a real intake. hollow out your cat and make your shifter a short throw using the faq I wrote 5 - 10hp without spending a cent haha
[ April 15, 2003: Message edited by: keetonFXY ]

on the valve cover u have a PCV valve and a vacume rubber hose that runs to the intake tubbing take that off plug the hole in the intake tube and get a breather filter n pop it on top of the valce cover n u got a smooth accel.. and idle

Hollowing out your cats would be counter prouctive on a DOHC.. If you wanna lose the cats get a aftermarket header for your car. The stock header flows straight into one, good design for emmisions but a bad design for flow.

Yeah filters do matter do some research on materials and find what you like to best..

IMO, if you're going to do performance modifications, don't take short cuts. "disconnect this", "plug that", "remove this", etc. is only cheating yourself. you won't get any serious power gains from stuff like this. if you want to get an intake, go for it, but putting a filter on the pcv inlet is doing the EXACT SAME THING as it was before. the reason some people put the little filter on the valve cover(myself included) is because either the piping for the CAI or piping for the i/c isn't setup for it.

what?? learn the english language and then come talk to me.
the hose going into the valve cover from the intake tube is a vacuum line. it sucks air from the intake hose and through the pcv valve. this is to remove any blow-by gas and recirc it back into the intake manifold. now..if the pcv valve was not working/sticking, then it would push blow-by into the intake piping.
you're level of immaturity/ignorance is showing very well. for you to jump right into name-calling when i never once personally attacked you is childish.
about your motor, congrats on getting a kl-ze though i could care less. have fun paying for the I4-V6 conversion.
[ April 17, 2003: Message edited by: cre8v mx3 ]

i usually dont post on the 4cyl forum but cre8v mx3 is correct your only cheating yourself if you dont do it right the 1st time, you'll bennifit in the long run.
and as for just attaching a filter NO! your doing nothing to the engine but swapping filter you will see no results in doing this (some would argue but its 100% true, you think your getting results this is known as a ButtDynoed, in short i could go beat on your block with a screw driver and you could go drive it and think it was faster or running better than before) Prm makes a good CAI i have one on my v6 and love it( and it sounds so aggressive)
As for other mods, exhaust system is about the only ""cheap"" mod you can really do to notice hp gains.
