I'd say sell some of your sound equipment. Buy a used transmission from a junkyard (I got one for $300). It's possible you could get a manual transmission too, and switch over. Then, read up and put it in yourself. I cost me $900 to get my transmission checked, removed, new clutch w/ labor, used transmission installed. This included parts and labor, which is still a lot but better than what you're being told.<BR>Just a few suggestions since I went through a similar situation.

My tranny leaks bad, but I plan on getting another from a yard and switching it. Not a prob if you got time and some tools.
