the motor is literally 75% of whats under the hood....everything else just makes the motor run and etc. expect to see people reply with the basic bolt-on's and/or motor swap.
you can do the i/h/e..although the stock header is already a good flow design from what i hear and doesnt need much attention to. you can also do weight reduction route. the apexi safc can be used to up the fuel after the intake/exhaust to help with that a/f ratio for more power. aerodynamics can help as well such as a lower center of gravity for less drag (lowering springs) and helping with traction (some type of front spoiler such as diffusers or canards).
[ November 15, 2002: Message edited by: marshmallow15 ]

Stock ignition is fine until you start boosting.
Bolt-ons - ie. intake, exhaust, header, TB, etc.
Easiest swap is the B6T, hands down the cheapest. The only way to get to or above 200whp is by swapping to the B6T or BP.

Maldo's right man, i was planning to keep my SOHC, I did a few things, kept up with civics and other stuff, but if you want any real power in the 200 hp range the swap is the way to go. Hopefully have my B6T in by january!!

id return the hoses if i were you....i got em and they give you wayyy too much than you need for the sohc. just buy the hoses individually to save yourself $20.

To swap in a 1.8 DOHC from a 98 protege you'll need a klutch kit, ECU and of course the engine. That's an interesting swap if you're happy with 130HP (same as GS). There's engine for 400$ a new cluth (clutch masters stage 1) will be 275 and ECU 175$ Total: around 1000$ US

is the dohc from the 98 pro a v6? if so is it the same motor as the mx3 gs? if its a 4cyl, that WOULD be an interesting swap.

i thought the DOHC 1.8 motor, the BP, was out of a 90-94 protege
