Hello everyone... My name is Garrett and i just recently bought a 93' Mx-3 RS Automatic. Its that nice Emerald Metallic color... looks great... and i love it. But DAMN its slow. I mean slower than slow... geo metro slow here... anyways, i wanted to ask anyone with some insight on how to get some more go out of it...
Would getting an updraded computer chip help at all? Or Maybe a Manual Transmission swap? I really dont have a lot of cash to spend... so im looking for cheap upgrades.
My main concern is getting more low end accelaration... i dont mind top speed much at all... and it doesnt really matter because the computer limits at 105 mph... Any advice or direction or links would be great.. Thanks

I'd try searching for B6T or BPT on this board in the 4cyl forum.
Post Moved to 4cyl forum

got mine up to 115-120 here too, and i'm pretty sure there are many ppl on this board with stock computers that have gone much faster.

I read up on it on several different places online, and seen for myself... the stock computer on my Automatic wont let be go past 105 (which makes me wonder why the hell the speedo goes to 150?!)
Whats a nuetral drop?
And Quicky update... i hacked off my muffler... running straightpipe... Psh.. can barely tell the diffrence, but its a TINY bit more responsive, and it sounds beefy =o)

If i do catback piping.. for the 1.6... is everyone in basic agreement that 2 inch is good? cuz 2 1/2 is too big for that little engine.. therell be like no backpressure... or like 1 3/4 i dunno... stock is 1 1/4 right? yeah.. ok...
And what / where is the resonator and how do i remove it?? Can anyone send me a pic of it?? Thad be great

Got an automatic in my '95. The 1st & 2nd gears could be closer, but with a bit more power,... It's still a fun car to drive. :p
I hear that these tranny's dont wear well under high power. Is that with the older ones, or all of them? Can it be helped by going to stronger/stiffer engine mounts, suspension mods, etc.?

ok lets see here...
If you're looking for low end accelleration then dont change your stock muffler piping. If you increase the diameter you're gonna lose torque and thats your low end power.
Chips only work when the car has been modified. They are built to allow the car to use different power arrangements more effectively. Noone has proven that chips for the mx-3 have helped any, even in situations where the car has been modified (less force induction of course).
A neutral drop is when you rev the car in neutral then drop the shifter into drive, and frankily only an idiot would do that.
Unfortunately, if you're not looking to do a tranny swap or an engine swap there's not much you can do to change your situation. Sorry bro

What about an Orthadox underdrive pully, what will that do for the car??

It underdrives the alternator pully. Thus less power. Not so bad with a stock setup but if you have any amount of stereo then it will hurt.
