i like my 95 mx3, affectionately called "the little basturd", enough to consider installing a/c into the car which otherwise came with out a/c from the factory...
is this even possible? does anyone know what parts i would need to pull this off?
in the most general aspect of the installation, what would it require me doing?
i would hate to have to sell her just because she doesnt have a/c, but it gets 100 degrees daily here during the summer..
thanks,
- eddie -

youed be best off having your mechanic do it or if you want just take it to the local dealership, the only prboblem with that is that the factory ac takes away allot of the cars power. personally i use the 2,45 system (2 open windows at 45 mph)

hmmnn.. loss of power huh? well, the car isnt exactly a bullet as it stands now :).. although one time i think i almost chirped second..
if a dealership ever touched any of my cars, i think i would have to be either dead or incapacitated...
seriously though, if anyone has the knowledge to give me a few hints on how to do this, i would really appreciate it..
this car is my daily driver, and i like the car, but the difference between climate control in my 3000gt and 2/45 ac in the mazda is enough to give me pneaumonia..
- eddie -

I installed a/c in my 92 last summer. I did it myself and it took me about 4 days. I installed used components of a 92 and a used compressor of a 94. 93+ use r12 gas which is cheaper and easier to find. After I installed everthing, I brought the car to a specialised shop and had the system checked for leaks and filled-up with r12: 45$cnd (about 85$cnd to have a r134 system conversion to r12 including fill-up). I can provide you with a detailed list of parts you needif you want.

About the loss of power: you lose power only when the a/c is on.

to my understanding.....the r-12 shop puts in new stuff while storing you old stuff for disposal properly.....
the mechanic has to be liscensed etc..etc..
jason
